I want to thank you for reading my blog. Among other things, it serves as a mechanism for helping me to write my next book. When I established a nonprofit to help women in transition, I knew that I was consciously taking my life into an entirely new direction. Through its dissolution, I learned even more lessons that I’ll be incorporating into my next book. There are lessons learned from failure that were extremely beneficial to me when viewed in…..
Periodically on this blog, I’ll share a journaling prompt designed to help you dig through the mental matter bouncing around your head. Not all of these exercises may seem applicable, but chances are good they will. I’ll repeat the following introduction before each exercise, because there may be people joining the process at different points of the process. INTRO: Journaling is a way to engage the subconscious mind and to allow your inner wisdom to float to the surface of your…..
The COVID-19 pandemic has exacerbated the feelings of loneliness many of us have been experiencing (even we introverts who are more comfortable than most with being alone). Sending out an S.O.S. can be difficult for everyone, but it’s especially difficult for “strong” people. I speak with authority on the subject, because I’m generally someone that many consider a strong and resilient person. Spoiler alert: there are occasions when I absolutely need help. Today, I’ll share a few of the reasons…..
One of the things I’ve learned through asking is just how limited my imagination can be sometimes. There’s a quote from the Broadway musical Auntie Mame that describes exactly what I mean: “Life is a banquet, and most poor suckers are starving to death!” If you wish to activate the possibility and opportunity setting in your life, it helps to do three things: 1. Ask for what you want. 2. Don’t get overly specific. 3. Keep your eyes open. Consider…..

Many times, intangible things keep us evolving into our highest selves. The concept of forgiveness is a common tether that binds us to our past. Some are reluctant to forgive because the act of bearing a grudge keeps an invisible “tote board of wrongs” that serves to keep score. Against whom? For what purpose? To what end? Remember, don’t confuse forgive with excuse. You can forgive someone a transgression without excusing it. Forgiveness is ultimately a selfish act, in that…..

Today’s post is a bit political. For me, Memorial Day has always been about honoring the dead. From my childhood, I’ve always associated this day with peonies, paper poppies, trips to cemeteries and patriotism. My childhood was right out of Mayberry, RFD. We had one stoplight in town (which was only turned on when school was either beginning or ending for the day). Especially in summer, my brothers and I roamed the town like feral cats with our friends. We…..
Oh happy day—my feather lampshade arrived today! I spray-painted the base of a lamp I’ve had for over 10 years and updated the look with a gorgeous shade covered with multi-colored feathers. It sits in the direct path of my line of sight when I step into my apartment. Want to change your life? Add happiness to each day? Make sure that you are seeding your environment with things that make you smile. Every time I see this lampshade, I…..
