If you’ve been staying in and self-isolating during the pandemic, first of all: thank you. When we are asked to do something to help, most of us look to the grand or sweeping gestures, the BIG sacrifices to make a difference.
During this extremely stressful time, we are asked to be still.
Being still is difficult for me. My grandmother used to call me the Dutch Cleanser Girl (it’s an advertising reference to a powdered cleanser that had a similar busy-busy, ‘keep grinding’ ethos).
My natural instinct is to ACT. I want to DO SOMETHING. So when I’m asked to ‘do something’ as anticlimactic as sit on my sofa as a way to help, it’s difficult.
However.
Consider this: muscle growth actually happens during the repair process on the off or rest days. Through the binding and repair work of individual muscle fibers reaching out and grafting to each other, bulk and strength are fashioned.
RESTING *IS* WORK.
Be safe. Stay home when you can. Wear your mask. Get vaccinated. Drink your water. Laugh today.
We’ll get through this together.
